Ribbon Cut on Boone Army Aviation Support Facility

FRANKFORT, Ky., October 14, 2015 — Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, Maj. Gen. Edward W. Tonini, adjutant general for Kentucky, special guests and hundreds of current and former Kentucky National Guardsmen attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Kentucky National Guard’s newest Army Aviation Support Facility at Boone National Guard Center today.

boone hangar ribbon cutting 02 WORK Full SizeThe new 125,000 SF facility includes space for administration, operations, control, classrooms, training, fitness, equipment distribution and maintenance support. The oversized, 7-bay hangar provides ample space for the maintenance of Black Hawks and fixed-wing aircraft.

The net zero facility uses geothermal heating and cooling, solar power, 80 kilowatts photo-voltaic solar power, high efficiency lighting, daylight harvesting technology and radiant floor heating.
