FRANKFORT, Ky., June 4, 2018 — Several adorably anxious kids and library staff hurriedly cut the ribbon on the Paul Sawyier Public Library today as dozens attended its grand opening. Designed by EOP Architects, the expansion and renovation adds much needed meeting space and interactive displays that transforms the library into a community gem.

EOP Project Partner Brent Bruner, AIA, spoke at the grand opening urging visitors to see “the mural in tile. It is a true piece of art.” EOP created a focal point with a large mosaic tile representation of one of Sawyier’s most famous paintings on the new ground entrance of the addition. “As with most of our projects, we incorporated art into the design,” continued Bruner.
Much more than simply a place to check out books, the library now features a large, flexible multipurpose room called The River Room for its views to the Kentucky River, several interactive and educational learning stations including one that’s focused on outer space, a playhouse decorated like a castle complete with Merlin’s workshop where kids draw with a magic wand and the Friends of the Library Bookstore.
