MILLVILLE, Ky., Mar. 27, 2015 — Kentucky’s world famous Bourbon Trail may get another stop once EOP Architects finishes the complete renovation and renewal of the Old Taylor Distillery.
The notion that bourbon fans will visit where bourbon is made seems fairly new, but Col. E.H. Taylor Jr., the man behind the historic distillery in Woodford County, foresaw it from the beginning. Picnickers by the hundreds arrived by train to experience Old Taylor’s landscaped grounds and medieval-style castle. Similar to today’s distillery tours, Old Taylor’s tour supplied 1/10th a pint of bourbon at the end of every tour.
“Preserving the property is paramount. There are no plans to tear down structures and we are in discussions to pursue LEED-efficiency upgrades,” comments EOP Principal Brent Bruner, who is leading EOP’s restoration of the distillery.
