EOP’s connection to 1st LEED home in KY

Resident architectural associate, Daniel Ware, worked on the Resonance House during his last semester at the University of Kentucky’s College of Design. Daniel acted as the site supervisor during construction.

Commenting on the effort to conserve materials during construction, Daniel Ware said, “We had a greater sense of what was going into the project, what was being purchased, and what was going out. The fun part was trying to use the materials to the greatest extent possible.” The result was a dramatic reduction in construction waste, a mere three tons compared to the standard 15 to 18 tons for a house of this size.

“Derek brings a wealth of experience to the firm. Maintaining our unique culture of creativity, collaboration, and communication becomes even more important as we grow. Choosing the right people is essential to making our clients successful.” said Rick Ekhoff, Principal in charge of design.

Brooks, a 1988 UK College of Architecture graduate and Licensed Architect, brings 20 years of industry knowledge and award-winning design to EOP.

Director of Marketing Appointment

Nick Rice was appointed as the Director of Marketing for EOP Architects today. With over 12 years of marketing and branding experience, Mr. Rice is ideally suited to guide EOP’s marketing initiatives and contribute directly to the overall growth of the firm.

“In our search for a new head of marketing, we were looking for someone with professional services experience as well as intimate knowledge of design and marketing best practices. We are confident that Nick’s track record of success combined with his experience interacting with community and business leaders will help take EOP to the next level,” said Paul Ochenkoski, EOP’s Principal in charge of project production and quality control.

Mr. Rice has held senior leadership positions on both the client and agency side of marketing. As the Business Development and Account Strategy Manager for Cre8tive Group, Nick was responsible for uncovering business opportunities and creating strategic account plans that were both successful for the client and profitable for the firm. In addition, Nick was the Marketing Communications Manager at Lexmark International, where he was responsible for the creative strategy and execution of marketing programs targeting enterprise, small business and public sector clients. His teams played a critical role in delivering over $55m in sales attributed directly to marketing activities.

“Throughout my career, I’ve looked for opportunities that blend art and science, creativity and process, as well as form and function. EOP is poised to lead the way in innovative architecture offerings in the region. I can’t think of a better way to address some of the challenges in Lexington, and surrounding cities, than through sustainable iconic architecture and interior design. This is one of the few design disciplines that can truly make an impact on society. I’m excited to be joining such a strong team at EOP – and one that is positioned as a leader in the emerging architecture and design scene.” said Nick Rice.
